Officials: 2 men pulled from ocean at Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Authorities say two men are dead after rescue units pulled them from the ocean in Myrtle Beach.

Lt. Doug Furlong of the Myrtle Beach Police Department said the men were taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center after they were pulled from the water Monday afternoon. Horry County Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard confirmed that the men died.

A witness was quoted as saying one of the men was found relatively quickly and CPR was performed on the beach until that man was taken to the hospital. The witness said a search got under way for a second person, who was found several minutes later and brought to shore on a personal watercraft.

The identities of the two men were not immediately released.
