Officials concerned about possible spike in COVID-19 cases ahead of Labor Day weekend

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — For Labor Day weekend, many people will be traveling, gathering in groups and seeing friends and family they haven’t seen in some time. All normal things for an average holiday weekend, but things that could spread the coronavirus.

Health officials are now worried that there could be another increase in cases, similar to what happened around the Fourth of July.

“We have to remain diligent as a community,” said Public Health Director Steve Eaton.
