ALEXANDER COUNTY, N.C. — A woman has been charged with indecent liberties with a 4-year-old child at a church, according to the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office.
Carol Diane Britto, 52, of Taylorsville was charged with first-degree statutory sex offense and indecent liberties with a child. The Sheriff’s Office said the alleged offense happened in the summer of 2012 when the victim was 4 years old.
Officials said Britto was watching children at a church and the incidents occurred on church property during services.
Britto was made aware of the allegations in August 2013. After months of investigator, warrants were obtained on Britto and she was arrested Thursday.
She is being held in Alexander County Detention Center under a $750,000 secured bond. Her first appearance is scheduled for Sept. 8.
Officials said the investigation is continuing and may involve other victims.
