One of FBI's Ten Most Wanted Fugitives spotted in South Carolina

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. — Officials said accused sexual predator, Greg Alyn Carlson, was spotted in the Mount Pleasant area of South Carolina, where he has known ties.

In September, the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Los Angeles Office announced the addition of Carlson to the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list.

Officials said they received information of a confirmed sighting of Carlson in Mount Pleasant about two weeks ago, and they have reason to believe he’s still in the Southeast.

Authorities say Carlson committed a burglary on July 13, 2017, during which he attempted to sexually assault a woman while using a weapon.

In September 2017, he was charged with assault with intent to commit rape, assault with a deadly weapon and burglary, and he was arrested by Los Angeles police.

Carlson posted bond and was released, then fled to Mount Pleasant. The FBI said investigators believe he then left the state in a car with a stolen gun and a significant amount of cash.

Officials said Carlson had been previously spotted in Hoover, Alabama, on Nov. 22, 2017, when he led police on a high-speed chase but wasn’t caught. They said he was later seen in Jacksonville, Florida, on Nov. 28, 2017, and Daytona Beach, Florida, on Nov. 30, 2017.

Authorities said Carlson was most recently seen in a late model, white Hyundai Accent, which he had been driving on previous occasions. They believe the license plate may have been stolen from another vehicle.

They believe Carlson may be traveling in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama or Texas.

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $100,000 for information that leads to Carlson’s arrest.

Carlson, 47, has brown, graying hair and green eyes. He’s about 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs 170 pounds.
