CHARLOTTE — Nearly 1,500 people signed a petition demanding changes at Charlotte Catholic High School.
They are upset with the Catholic Diocese of Charlotte’s decision to switch to a different accreditation organization without notifying parents beforehand.
They worry students will not be as competitive when applying to college.
It also urges the school to address recent staff departures and retain its ancient world history course.
The superintendent of the diocese sent a letter to parents assuring them that the new accreditation organization “calls to a higher academic standard” and “better aligns with (its) mission.”
It also said three recent staff departures were for “unrelated reasons” and “not usual for a school this size.”
