CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A development that will add two floors to the post office building in Plaza Midwood will be going vertical in the next several weeks.
SORS LLC, affiliated with an individual real estate investor, acquired the building at 1233 The Plaza in early 2019 for $3.4 million, to redevelop it into a taller commercial building. Plans were put on hold for awhile but the project has recently secured permits. Interior demolition work on the building’s currently vacant second floor is underway, said Sink Kimmel, broker at Selwyn Property Group, who is leasing the building.
Plans still call for two additional floors to be added to the structure, which includes a U.S. Postal Service office on the ground floor. The post office will remain open during construction and after the building delivers, Kimmel said.
