Police looking for thieves who broke into Huntersville collectible store

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — The search is on for thieves who broke into a Huntersville collectible store and stole thousands of dollars worth of merchandise.

The heist happened at “Catch Em Collectibles” off Statesville Road this past week. Co-owner Joseph Caban said the thieves cut power to the business and broke through through a door.

Caban said the thieves knew what they were looking for.

“The people who did it definitely knew the store and knew where the things were,” Caban explained. “It wasn’t like a random hit where they just took stuff. They went to certain areas that had high-value stuff and they knew those areas.”

According to the police report, the thieves stole more than $31,000 worth of collectibles and $6,400 cash. In a Facebook post, the store said more than $60,000 worth of stuff was stolen.

Officers responded to an alarm call after the rear door was smashed. The glass of the rear door was smashed and around $37,830 in miscellaneous collectibles and a cash register were taken from the store.
