Police investigate armed robbery at light rail parking garage in south Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating after two suspects robbed a woman at gunpoint at a parking garage near a light rail station in south Charlotte.

The robbery happened Saturday night around 8 p.m. at the parking garage at the Blue Line's 485 Station on South Boulevard.

Police said two suspects robbed a 23-year-old woman at the parking deck.

Reporter Liz Foster checked with CMPD and the two suspects have not been caught.

The incident is prompting riders to think about their own safety in the area.

"That is horrible. That is very bad. We need to focus on more security," passenger Antoine Fluker said.

Channel 9 visited the parking garage Monday and noticed security cameras just inside the garage entrance and several emergency call stations.

There are also contracted security guards who patrol light rail stations similar to the 485 station.

A spokesperson for CATS told Channel 9 another safety measure riders can use is the "See Something, Say Something" app. Riders can call police or report a problem right through the app.
