GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — Police are investigating a fatal crash in Gaston County involving a motorcycle and a tractor-trailer Thursday morning.
The crash happened just after 9:15 a.m. at the intersection of South New Hope Road and Redbud Drive.

Gastonia Police said the tractor trailer was leaving the Walmart Neighborhood Market and attempting to turn left onto South New Hope Road when the truck collided with motorcyclist 30-year-old Robert Lee Cole.
Officials said Cole was killed on impact.
Authorities said South New Hope Road reopened just before noon but Redbud Drive remained closed, near Ashbrook High School.
Police said no charges have been filed at this time.
