HICKORY, N.C. — Police have arrested a man they said strangled an elderly man at a Hickory park during a robbery attempt.
Officers told the Hickory Daily Record the victim wouldn't hand over his wallet to Jesse Gibson.
That's when investigators say Gibson hit the 71-year-old with a gun and choked him until the man blacked out.
When police responded to Geitner-Rotary Park they said they found Gibson having a seizure in a ditch.
Police took Gibson the hospital and then to jail.
