Police: Monroe man accused of robbing home, then store at gunpoint

MONROE, N.C. — A man robbed a home and a store at gunpoint within minutes of each other in Monroe on Tuesday around noon, police say.

Officials said Salomon Garcia-Flores, of Monroe, entered a home on North Johnson Street with a handgun and stole a person’s cell phone and a silver Hyundai Elantra.

Garcia-Flores drove to the La Chiquita Mexican Store at 1630-B Concord Avenue with the stolen car, pointing a handgun at an employee and stole cash and checks belonging to the business, police said.

He also fled that scene in the Elantra. Officers spotted Garcia-Flores walking into the parking lot of Quik Trip at 603 W. Roosevelt Blvd. He was taken into custody and arrested. The handgun used was taken along with the stolen car.

Salomon Garcia-Flores is being charged with felony breaking and entering and multiple counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon.
