Police say they found counterfeit workout DVDs at man's home

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte man could face additional criminal charges after agents from a counterfeit task force said they seized counterfeit workout DVDs from his home.

Police arrested Jamie Hickman Monday after they raided his north Charlotte house.

Investigators said they received a tip that Hickman had been illegally importing "Beach Body" workout DVDs into North Carolina. Working with the North Carolina Secretary of State Counterfeit Task Force, detectives served a search warrant at the home.

Authorities said they also discovered evidence of a marijuana growing operation in Hickman's basement when they began searching for the DVDs.

Police told Channel 9 they seized multiple plants and seedlings, along with fans and grow lights.
Hickman is currently charged in connection with the drugs; and investigators said charges related to the counterfeit items are pending.

Hickman faced a judge on the marijuana charges Tuesday afternoon, but declined to comment on camera.

He did tell Eyewitness News he had recently lost his job and was trying to support his family.
