CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A UNC Charlotte student learned Friday morning in court that a second-degree rape charge against him has been dropped, according to his attorney.
Joshua Alford, 18, was arrested in February for second-degree rape.
The Mecklenburg County district attorney's office said the charge was dismissed due to insufficient evidence.
His attorney told Channel 9 that Alford received official notification of the dismissed charge during a court hearing. He said Alford is ready to get on with his life and put the unfortunate situation behind him.
