ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — The family of a Salisbury teen said his memory will live on through organ donation.
Jonah King, 16, died Tuesday after falling from his longboard -- a longer version of a skateboard -- and hitting his head. He was not wearing a helmet.
Deputies said early Monday morning, King was on his board on Timberlake Trail, being followed by a friend in pickup truck who was using headlights to light the way.
Troopers said King was not being pushed nor pulled by the truck.
King's family said his organs will be donated after he made the choice to do so.
"Jonah has already given a heart, two lungs, two kidneys, a pancreas, his liver," his mother Jackie said. "And they almost certainly have a match for his eyes."
The driver behind King, Kevin Robinson, was cited for driving after consuming alcohol and having an open container.
Rowan County deputies said the case is still open.
