CHARLOTTE — A major south Charlotte road was closed for hours Friday morning, hours after a crash took down several power poles.
Crews worked throughout the night and into the morning to make repairs to multiple utility poles along Woodlawn Road, and the road was shut down between Nations Ford Crossing and Old Pineville Road.

Just after 10 p.m. Thursday, a car slammed into the poles, knocking several of them down, according to police.
Nobody was hurt in the wreck but police said the road would be closed indefinitely until repairs were complete. The road was finally reopened around 8:15 a.m.
No major power outages associated with the crash were reported.
