The teen shooter who took the life of a 15-year-old in east Charlotte in 2022 was sentenced to prison on Thursday.

Emmanuel Crouch was in court Thursday for a sentencing hearing after he pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon last year.

Crouch was arrested in connection with the killing of 15-year-old John Daniel Morales on May 29, 2022. Morales was shot on First Run Circle near Harrisburg Road, and he later died at the hospital.

CMPD didn’t initially identify Crouch as a suspect because he was 15 at the time of the shooting. He’s now 18.

According to court documents obtained by Channel 9, Crouch was sentenced to 125-162 months in prison. He’ll receive credit for 981 days in jail.
