Suspects charged in shooting, car chase that injured two in Rock Hill, police say

ROCK HILL, S.C. — A man is facing attempted murder charges after a fight led to a shooting, according to Rock Hill police.

Police said they responded to Marshal Street near East Main Street after receiving reports about a shooting in the early morning hours on Sunday, Mar. 6.

At the scene, police said they found a man on the ground who had been shot in his side. His condition is unknown at this time.

Police said they saw two men leaving the area in a black Audi. Officers followed the car onto Walnut Street where it hit a parked Honda on the opposite side of the road. The Honda then hit a parked Toyota and seriously hurt a man who was standing at the driver’s door at the time of the crash.

The driver of the Audi, later identified as Chandler Ward, 20, was then thrown from the car.

The man, later identified as Marques Wright, who was hit while standing was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. His family said he remains in critical condition. The family said they have created a GoFundMe for Wright.

An investigation revealed that Ward, and Daryl Trabucco, 28, got into a fight with the shooting victim. Police said Ward and Trabucco hit the victim with their fists and a flashlight before Ward shot him. Ward and Trabucco then left the scene in the black Audi.

Police said Ward and Trabucco were taken to the hospital for injuries they received in the crash.

Once Trabucco was released from the hospital, he was charged with second-degree assault and battery by mob. He was also given bond.

On Saturday, Ward was taken to jail on charges of attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and assault and battery by mob. He was denied bond and released into the custody of the South Carolina Highway Patrol where he was charged with felony driving under the influence and failure to stop for blue lights.
