Steinmart to close all stores, including several in Charlotte area

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Stein Mart is shuttering all 279 of its stores across 30 states, the company said Thursday morning, hiring five firms to help it with the going-out-of-business process.

There are 20 Stein Mart stores in North Carolina and another 11 in South Carolina. Of those, six are located in the greater Charlotte region. That includes a store in Charlotte’s Ballantyne area as well as one each in Concord, Cornelius, Matthews, Pineville and Hickory.
