• Steve's Coats for Kids special collection Wednesday

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - It’s another day to put on your warmest coat, but many children in our area don’t have a warm coat.

Channel 9’s Steve’s Coats for Kids collection is underway.

WSOC-TV has collection sites across Mecklenburg County, including all Showmars restaurants.

Severe Weather Center 9 meteorologist Steve Udelson was at the Ashley Furniture store in Pineville Wednesday morning.

Customers at the Showmars on Providence Road have been dropping off coats for days now.

“Look out and around you now when it’s cold and think about children that might not have these coats. It’s just real important to give them something that they may have not have an that you have,” said Patricia Peroulas with Showmars.

There is a special collection Wednesday at the Showmars on Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill.

Udelson will be at the restaurant from 2 - 4 p.m.

Stop by and donate some coats to benefit local children.
