Students return to Charlotte Preparatory School for first time since massive fire

CHARLOTTE — Students will be returning to Charlotte Preparatory School for the first time since a massive fire in June.

Classes will start for the lower and middle schools on Wednesday.

Charlotte Preparatory School said its original lower building received heavy damage following a fire on June 26.

Last month, the school announced it received a $150,000 donation from the Philip L. Van Every Foundation through a student’s grandparent.

The school said it plans to tear down and replace what’s left of the damaged building.

For now, modular units will be used as classrooms, as well as office spaces.

Classes for early school students start on Thursday.
