Authorities believe Bouknight, Blakeney and Peter Gould Jr. tied Doyle up inside his home on Plantation Woods Drive, stabbed him to death and stole his SUV.

"It's very frightening for me," a neighbor who did not want to be identified said. "Very frightening, specifically if people are coming into the neighborhood and targeting homes."

In 2010, Bouknight was one of three men arrested for burglarizing a home on Foxthorne Drive in north Charlotte.

The intruders stole thousands of dollars of electronics, police said.

Gould used to work for a tree and lawn service company, and residents are wondering if he ever worked on Doyle's yard.

"Now knowing that he worked for a tree service and there's been a lot of tree service trucks in the neighborhood, now the fear is back," the neighbor said.

Bouknight and Blakeney remain behind bars without bond and Gould is due in court Friday.
