Teen hurt when car slams into Hickory home with children inside, family says

HICKORY, N.C. — Two people, including a teenager, were rushed to the hospital after a car slammed into a home Wednesday morning in Hickory.

Police said the driver was unconscious after the crash at the Thunderbird MHC Hickory Mobile Home Park in northeast Hickory. An 18-year old sleeping inside the home was also rushed to the hospital after the car hit his bedroom.

Family members told Channel 9 two other children were inside the home when the crash happened.

“He said it felt like an earthquake, and he quickly ran into my siblings’ room to check if they were OK,” Cristian Garcia said.

Crews used a wrecker to pull the car out of the home.

Those children are now staying with family nearby.
