Thief wears socks on hands during Monroe bank robbery

MONROE, N.C. — Monroe police are looking for a man who they said robbed a bank in the middle of the day.

Police released surveillance pictures of the robbery that occurred Tuesday around 1:30 p.m.

Investigators said the robber walked into he PNC Bank on Dickerson Boulevard wearing sunglasses, a handkerchief to cover his face and even wrapped socks around his hands.

The robber was last seen running into the woods behind the bank, police said.

No one was hurt during the robbery.
