CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Thunder Road Marathon is getting a new name.
Novant Health announced Friday on Facebook that this year’s event will be the Novant Health Charlotte Marathon.
Novant said it's Charlotte's marathon, so it wanted the name to reflect that.
The race is a qualifier for the Boston Marathon.
The Thunder Road Marathon began in 2005, in 20016 we're making it ours. Introducing the newly re-named @Novant Health Charlotte Marathon. This is your marathon, Charlotte!
