KANSAS — A couple of storm chasers recorded video of a tornado from inside the storm in Smith County, Kan., Monday afternoon.
They were in a specialized tank vehicle called a Tornado Intercept Vehicle.
They said the winds were blowing between 150 to 175 miles per hour.
That was strong enough to blow open a hatch, blow open a door and rip instruments off the top of the vehicle.
The vehicle did stay on the ground.
The TIV is used to capture dramatic images of tornadoes.
