Union County school administrator on leave after DWI charge

UNION COUNTY, N.C. — A Union County Public Schools administrator is on leave after deputies say he was driving while impaired.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office website shows Bashawn Harris was arrested around 1:30 a.m. Sunday in Stallings.

On Monday, a spokesperson for the district said he’s on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation.

A court date is set for next month.

Channel 9 is working to learn more about what led to Harris’ arrest.

Harris is listed on the district’s website as the assistantsuperintendent of human resources.
