Uptown nightlife fixture announces closure after a decade in business

CHARLOTTE — The Roxbury, one of the most popular nightlife destinations in Uptown Charlotte, announced it is closing its doors.

The ‘80s and ‘90s nightclub is on Fifth Street between North Tryon and North Church streets. It was open for 11 years.

The club’s last night will be June 24, it announced in an Instagram post.

Little explanation was offered as to why the Roxbury is closing. In the Instagram post, the club said its lease location was up.

“We have five weekends left. Don’t wait. Thank you Charlotte for 11 years of support and all the memories,” the post reads.
