Victim identified, man charged in Cleveland County deadly crash on I-85

CLEVELAND COUNTY, N.C. — Officials released the identity of the victim involved in a deadly vehicle collision in Cleveland County on Tuesday morning.

Arlene Bulunda of Harrisburg died at the scene. She was driving a Kia that was rear-ended into a car in front of her.

Four vehicles were involved in the crash on I-85 around 5 a.m. on Tuesday, North Carolina Highway Patrol revealed.

According to the information provided by Highway Patrol, a tractor-trailer traveling southbound collided with the rear of Bulunda’s Kia while slowing down due to a lane closure.

The initial collision cuased a chain reaction of collisions with the two cars in front of the Kia, a Tesla and another tractor-trailer.

The Tesla vehicle then ran off the left side of the roadway, striking a guardrail.

The tractor-trailer that initiated the incident ran off the right side of the road, ending up in the right southbound lane of I-85.

Neither of the drivers in the tractor-trailers were injured. The three passengers in the Tesla were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Charges have been brought against the driver of the tractor-trailer that initiated the crash.

Alexander Feldman from Hallandale, Florida was charged with Misdemeanor Death by Motor Vehicle.
