CHARLOTTE — A real-life Grinch was caught on camera destroying a north Charlotte family’s holiday decoration.
“The guy got out, came up here and grabbed it and jerked it and pulled it,” said Ronnie Bolick.
Bolick is from Florida and visiting his family for the holidays. When he pulled up to their driveway Thursday evening, he saw the family’s highly talked about Christmas Snoopy inflatable spread across the driveway.
“Somebody had torn it up. People spend hard-earned money to decorate their property at Christmas and then stuff like this happens,” said Bolick.
The family’s neighbor shared surveillance video with Channel 9 in hopes of catching the vandal who tore down the lawn decoration. In it, you can see a car pull up.
Someone turns the headlights off, gets out and grabs the inflatable and throws it to the ground before getting back in the car and driving away.
“For someone to come by and actually do something like that, it’s disturbing,” said Wendy Parks.
Parks lives across the street and watched family members blow up Snoopy on Christmas Eve.
She said when she saw the video, she was shocked.
“People work so hard for things like this,” Parks added.
Christmas may be over, but Bolick has one more wish on his list. “I just hope they get caught, that’s it,” he said. Channel 9 found social media posts about other inflatables being destroyed in the area.
