Vigil to be held for man killed by US Marshal at Charlotte gas station

CHARLOTTE — Family and community members will come together Tuesday to remember a man who was shot and killed by a U.S. Marshal.

In March, a Marshal shot Frankie Jennings at a gas station in east Charlotte.

According to the district attorney, Jennings was pumping gas when federal Marshals tried to serve him arrest warrants.

The D.A. said Jennings got into a struggle with two officers and that’s when Senior Inspector Eric Tillman fired three shots, killing Jennings.

The D.A. announced last month that he will not file charges.

The attorney for Jennings’ family told Channel 9 they will seek justice.

Charlotte Uprising will hold a vigil for Jennings at 11 a.m. outside the courthouse on West Trade Street in uptown.
