WATCH: Police look for driver who crashed into children's dentist office

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating a hit-and-run after a car crashed into a children's dentist office and took off.

It happened last Tuesday evening at Smile Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics.

Pediatric dentist Monique McEachern said her staff discovered the mess the next morning.

"Could have easily had someone in the chair, and it could have harmed a person," she said.

McEachern said their office is barely two years old. It's located off Mt Holly-Huntersville Road in the Mountain Island Lake area.

The office's surveillance camera captured video of the crash.

CMPD is investigating the crash as a hit-and-run.

McEachern said it appears that someone was teaching someone else how to drive.

"Maybe instead of putting on the brakes, they put on the gas," she said. "You don’t drive away, because if you are teaching them, then you are also teaching them a hit-and-run. Some other bad things too, and that’s not good,” McEachern said.

McEachern hopes someone recognizes the people in the surveillance video or that the people responsible come forward.
