The Weddington Town Council made a controversial decision Tuesday night to end its contract with the town's only fire station.
Council members held a special meeting to determine the future of the Providence Volunteer Fire Department.

Ending their contract will help save more than $200,000 a year.
A new contract will be drawn up with Wesley Chapel.
A termination date on the current contract will be determined once a new contract with Wesley Chapel is made.
