CHARLOTTE, N.C. — In the age of the Covid-19 pandemic, there are more factors to consider than in previous years when it comes to safety. In its annual report on the safest cities in the country, personal finance website WalletHub takes the public health crisis into consideration.

Only one North Carolina city cracked the top 10 on the overall ranking — that would be Raleigh, landing at No. 9. But on a list of 182 locales, Charlotte did relatively well in placing at No. 53.

The rankings looked at home and community safety — taking into account each area’s Covid-19 data as well as crime rates and other factors — in addition to natural disaster risk and financial safety.
