Whistleblower lawsuit against Silfab Solar moves forward

YORK COUNTY, S.C. — A former Silfab Solar employee, Jason Rhoades, claims the company stored chemicals at its plant before obtaining the proper permits and fired him after he reported the facility was operating without a certificate of occupancy.

In court, Rhoades’ attorney argued there was no fire protection in place despite the presence of chemicals.

Silfab did not respond during the hearing but has denied the allegations in legal filings.

A judge dismissed part of the lawsuit, but the whistleblower and wrongful‑termination claims will move forward.

No trial date has been set. Silfab resumed operations last month following state and federal inspections.
