• York Co. family gets new Habitat for Humanity home

YORK COUNTY, S.C. - A York County family now has a new home, thanks to Habitat for Humanity.

Robyn Near received the keys to her new home Tuesday night.

She and her two children have been living in an apartment she said she can barely afford, and they lived in a shelter before that.

Near told Channel 9 she's grateful to the 300 volunteers who built her the new home.

“You don't realize there's going to be such an outpouring of love until you're right in the middle of it and then everyone is just there supporting you, surrounding you. It’s such a blessing,” Near said.

She purchased the home with an affordable no-profit loan and the monthly mortgage payments will go to building more Habitat homes.
