York Co. man accused of flushing Fentanyl pills in front of girlfriend's kids

YORK COUNTY, S.C. — York County drug agents said two children, ages 2 and 10, watched their mother's boyfriend desperately try to flush Fentanyl and Xanax pills down the toilet after officers chased him to his home in Fort Mill.

Drug agents told Channel 9 they tried to stop Roger Harris, 29, Wednesday night in the PetSmart parking lot near Home Depot in Rock Hill.

Harris allegedly threw more than 50 Fentanyl pills and two bags of heroin from his car into the parking lot, then took off. Police said he rammed a police car before racing up Highway 21 at high speed, dragging the front bumper of his car along the road.

Officers chased Harris to his home off Sutton Road in Fort Mill where they said he tried to flush the highly dangerous pills in front of his girlfriend's children. Most of the pills ended up on the floor.

Drug agents said Fentanyl looks like candy and they were worried children near the PetSmart could have been exposed.

"Any child could have picked one of these pills up and put it in their mouth," said drug unit commander Marvin Brown.

Harris faces multiple charges and his girlfriend, 32-year-old Heather Pritchard, will be charged with child neglect.

More charges are pending.
