Police: Man Beat Another Man With A Pipe, Arrested For DWI

MOUNT HOLLY, N.C.,None — A Mount Holly man beat another man with a pipe then got arrested for DWI, according to arrest warrants.

The beating came as a result of an early altercation Wednesday, an officer wrote in the warrant affidavit.

Neal Dequales McCorkle, 30, of Trexler Drive, drove up to 400 E. Central Ave., Mount Holly, grabbed a pipe and got out of the car, according to the affidavit. Thomas Sifford, who was on the porch, told McCorkle to leave but instead McCorkle walked over and struck the man with the pipe, the affidavit said.

McCorkle picked up the pipe and left but was later arrested, according to warrants.

McCorkle was charged with DWI, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, communicating threats and second-degree trespassing.

McCorkle had allegedly been at the property earlier in the day and threatened to come back and burn the house down and "bust" everyone on the porch.

He was taken to Gaston County Jail and held on a $2,500 secured bond.
