Police: Woman Carjacked, Locked In Trunk

CHARLOTTE, N.C.,None — A 27-year-old woman was carjacked, sexually assaulted and locked in the trunk of her car on Sunday night, police said.

The victim called 911 from her trunk at about 9 p.m. Sunday. Police found her and her car on Damascus Street, between Old Concord and Rocky River roads in north Charlotte.

The woman told police she was driving on WT Harris Boulevard when she heard a strange noise and stopped to check her car. A man wearing a ski mask and armed with a gun and a knife approached her and forced her back into her car, she told police. The attacker then made her drive to the Damascus Street area, where he raped her, police said.

The victim told police the man then tied her up and locked her in the trunk of her car. Investigators said the man may have fled the area on foot, because the woman did not report hearing another car.

A K-9 unit was brought to the area to try to track the attacker's scent, but did not find him.

The woman described her attacker as a white male who is taller than 6 feet and has light-colored eyes. He has a Japanese symbol on the right side of his neck.
