Confederate display vandalized in South Carolina

HOLLY HILL, S.C. — A display of the Confederate, American and South Carolina flags has been vandalized just days after it was erected.

The Times and Democrat of Orangeburg reported members of three Sons of Confederate Veterans groups erected the flags June 16 on private land outside Holly Hill.

A sign said the Sons of Confederate Veterans is honoring "All of Our Ancestors."

The newspaper reported Thursday graffiti that said "Move" and five dollar signs was sprayed on the sign

Holly Hill Town Council asked the Confederate groups in April not to erect the display along U.S. 176. Mayor William Johnson said he was disappointed by the display.

A Confederate group member said they are looking for other private land for similar displays.

Holly Hill is 45 miles northeast of Charleston.
