South Carolina family finds 5-year-old boy's horse shot dead

GALIVANTS FERRY, S.C. — A 5-year-old boy's horse has been found dead with a gunshot wound in South Carolina and his mother said she is offering a cash reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the shooter.

Brooke Gasque said she found Sky lying on her side Tuesday morning at her home in Galivants Ferry. Gasque said a neighbor had called and said she should check on the horse. She said Sky was still alive Monday night.

Gasque did not initially see any blood, but her family discovered Sky had been shot in her side and called police.

Gasque said her son Bentley wanted to ride Sky on Monday but did not because he was recovering from a sickness.

She said in a Facebook post that the reward is $1,700.
