STANLY COUNTY, N.C.,None — Stanly County sheriff's Deputy Samul Stancil was taken to the hospital just before 11 p.m. Monday after a single-car crash.
The State Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
Investigators said Stancil crashed on Palestine Road near Airport Road, just northeast of Albemarle city limits.
According to investigators, he was responding to a call from the village of Misenheimer Police Department. At the time of the accident, Stancil had his lights and sirens on.
Investigators said Stancil ran off the left side of the road, causing the vehicle to roll over several times.
Stancil suffered injuries to his face and head, a broken collarbone and lacerations on his hands and arms, investigators said. He was airlifted from Stanly Regional Hospital to Carolinas Medical Center for treatment.
He is listed as in fair condition.
