Republican National Convention live updates: Cruz didn't endorse Trump; gets booed by crowd

New Jersey delegates cheer as New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie speaks during the second day session of the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Tuesday, July 19, 2016.

CLEVELAND — Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, expected to endorse Donald Trump in his  speech Wednesday at the Republican National Convention, did not pledge his allegiance to the Republican nominee, instead he urged viewers  and the crowd in Cleveland to “vote your conscientious this fall.”

The omission drew boos from the GOP crowd that nearly drowned out the end of Cruz’s speech, which to that point had been along a straight party line.

The third night of the Convention was supposed to belong to Mike Pence, the GOP vice presidential nominee, but Cruz's non-endorsement was what dominated the evening.

Adding some intrigue to the night, Trump showed up at the Quicken Loans Arena and stood in the back of the hall as Cruz finished his speech.

Others speaking during the evening included Eric Trump, Donald Trump’s second son, and Newt Gingrich, the former speaker of the House.

Here’s a look at what happened tonight at the Republican National Convention.
