A sheriff went above and beyond to grant an 8-year-old boy’s final wish.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Kaleb Holder suffers from adrenoleukodystrophy, a rare disease that will soon leave him in a vegetative state.

"They're going to lose their ability to walk, talk, see, hear, everything," his mom, Janelle Daly told WFMZ.

On Friday, he visited the Lehigh County Sheriff’s Office in Allentown, Pennsylvania, to become sheriff for a day.

“He’s facing this medical malady,” said Sheriff Joe Hanna. “He’s a credit to himself. He’s well-raised and an example of strength.”

Kaleb rode in a cruiser and got to meet Lehigh County’s top judge.

His mom was touched by the sheriff’s generosity.

“He can feel what it’s like to be a police officer or a sheriff before he passes. It means a lot that he has the opportunity of that experience,” said Janelle, wiping away tears.
