GREENVILLE, N.C. — Police in North Carolina have apprehended a man who was caught on video spray-painting “NASCAR on USA” on city sidewalks.
According to a Facebook post by the Greenville Police Department, “Ricky Bobby” was caught after the Sept. 23 spraying, which was done with a stencil.
The vandalism resulted in about $1,000 in damages, WITN-TV reported.
Police said Detective Patrick Reichstein was able to find the “Talladega Nights’ wannabe, who has not been identified.
“Detective Reichstein has completed the final lap of his investigation,” the department wrote on Facebook. “Ricky Bobby has identified himself and the damages will be taken care of.”
While the video has not been released, the Greenville police released a photo of “Ricky Bobby” standing over one of the stencils, Road & Track reported.
“Ricky, remember the field mouse is fast, but the owl sees at night,” the department wrote before the spray painter was apprehended. “We’re watching.”
