Katharine F. Lemansky, 45, is facing charges of animal cruelty in North Carolina after she posted a photo of a dog with duct tape around its muzzle on Facebook, under the user name Katie Brown.

WAKE COUNTY, N.C. — A woman accused of posting a photo of her dog with its mouth taped shut on Facebook was in court Monday morning in Wake County, news partner ABC 11 reports.

Katharine Lemansky, 45, was charged with animal cruelty after a photo of her chocolate Labrador, Brown, was posted last month with the caption, “This is what happens when you dont shut up!!!”.

Animal lovers criticized her on social media and sparked an investigation spanning three states. Police said Lemansky was staying in Cary, North Carolina, when the photo was taken on Nov. 27, ABC 11 reports.
