SPONSORED: Six car care tips to stay cool this summer

Whether we like it or not, summer is about to arrive and bring with it sweltering temps, intense sun, and strong (occasional) thunderstorms. And since it’s coming in hot (literally), NOW is the time to prepare your ride accordingly so you can take the season in stride. Toyota of N Charlotte’s auto service techs have compiled a list of six car care items to check off your to-dos today - don’t delay!

Don’t skip out on this pre-summer car care

#1: Check all the fluids under the hood. When was the last time you had an oil change or checked your fluid? Your car has to work hard in the heat and it needs the proper amount of fluids to get the job done. Make sure you check things like oil, coolant, brake fluid, transmission fluid, and wiper fluid to ensure they’re clean and full.

#2: Have your tires inspected and if need be, serviced. You should have a pro take a look at your car tires before you hit the road this summer, especially if you’re traveling long distances or at high speeds. The pavement gets exceptionally hot in the summer and can do a number on your tires. Make sure they’re in good physical shape and also are inflated to the right PSI so you can minimize your chance of a blowout.

#3: Consider tinting your windows. If there was ever a time to treat yo’ self, this would be it. Sink a bit of money into having your windows tinted. This will not only keep the cabin cooler, but also protect your car’s interior from fading and cracking. You might also want to throw in a sunshade to prop up in the windshield, or a steering wheel cover and seat covers if you really want added protection for your interior. Ask our car care techs about tinting today!

#4: Get an A/C tuneup. Make sure your A/C is working in top notch condition NOW so you aren’t stuck without one when you need it most. Our Charlotte car care techs can do a quick inspection to make sure you don’t need any maintenance or repairs to stay cool all summer long.

#5: Invest in some car detailing supplies. A big part of car care is detailing, and this is especially true in the summer. You should detail and wax your car regularly with quality products. Wax will protect your car’s paint from the sun’s UV rays, which can cause fading and other damage over time.

#6: Take a good look at your windshield wiper blades. You may want to put on a new pair of wiper blades before summer thunderstorms arrive. If your current blades are streaking, smearing, or making squealing noises, the rubber is worn out and you need a new set. Toyota of N Charlotte’s parts store can help you make it happen.
