None — NORTHLAKE MALL AREA TRAFFIC DELAYS (Holiday season shopping rush) -- The traditional Christmas shopping rush will bring significant traffic delays to I-77, Harris Blvd., and Mt. Holly-Huntersville Rd. on Friday evening, all day Saturday and Sunday, and in the week leading up to Christmas.

I-77 ALTERNATE ROUTES:  The I-77/Exit 18/Harris Blvd. interchange will be heavily congested.  I-77 thru-traffic will see moderate delays due to the large amount of merging traffic.  Expect stopped traffic in the far right lane of both I-77 North and South due to long lines of traffic waiting to get off at Exit 18.  Thru-traffic should use the far left lane of I-77, or use Old Statesville Rd. as an alternate route between Sunset Rd./Exit 16, Harris Blvd./Exit 18, and I-485/Exit 19. HARRIS BLVD. ALTERNATE ROUTES:  Harris Blvd. will be extremely congested between Statesville Rd., I-77, and the Northlake Mall entrance (just west of I-77).  Drivers not heading to Northlake Mall should avoid this stretch of Harris Blvd. on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.  Use Old Statesville Rd. (right) to I-485 outer loop to Harris Blvd./Exit 21 as an alternate route bypassing the mall area. MT. HOLLY-HUNTERSVILLE RD. ALTERNATE ROUTES:  Mt. Holly-Huntersville Rd. will see heavier-than-normal traffic between Alexanderana Rd. and Harris Blvd.  Use Hambright Rd. (right) to McCoy Rd. (left) to Beatties Ford Rd. (left) as an alternate route from the Huntersville area into north Charlotte.

ALTERNATE ROUTES TO NORTHLAKE MALL -- All routes to and from the mall will be crowded on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.  If you really want to brave the crowds, these alternate routes from Traffic Team 9 will help you avoid the worst of the congestion.

ALTERNATE ROUTE FROM I-77 NORTHBOUND:  Use Sunset Rd./Exit 16-B to Reames Rd. (turn right).  Reames Rd. becomes Northlake Center Parkway, which provides access to the mall parking lots. ALTERNATE ROUTE FROM I-77 SOUTHBOUND:  Use Gilead Rd./Exit 23 (turn left) to Statesville Rd./US 21 (turn right) to Mt. Holly-Huntersville Rd. (turn right onto the ramp, and then left onto Mt. Holly-Huntersville Rd.) to Northlake Center Parkway (continue straight), which provides access to the mall parking lots.  This route can be tricky and is suggested only for those familiar with the area (or who know how to work their GPS).
