Hurricane Isaias
- After making landfall in Florida Friday night, the remnants of Hurricane Isaias are now pushing into the Carolinas and will be with us for most of the weekend.
- We’ll see rounds of rain today through tomorrow morning.
- This will be a healthy soaking for Charlotte with 1-1.5″ expected.
- For the High Country, totals are closer to 2-4″ with localized areas seeing even more.
- There is a risk for flash flooding for the High Country and a Flood Watch is in place until tomorrow.
- Conditions stay cool and breezy with temperatures in the 60s all day today.
- Winds will gust close to 35 mph in the metro, closer to 45-50 mph in the mountains.
- We’ll see one final push of rain with this system tomorrow morning, which could also bring a threat for a spin-up tornado.
- That risk pushes east of our area by midday Sunday with improving conditions through the afternoon.

Forecast
- Isaias is expected to bring heavy rain, gusty winds, and a small tornado risk to the Carolinas this weekend.
- The storm is forecast to make landfall near Pensacola, Florida, on Friday night before moving quickly through Alabama on Saturday.
- Rain could reach the Charlotte area as early as Saturday morning, becoming steadier and heavier throughout the day.
- Heavy downpours are expected to continue Saturday night into Sunday morning.
- A line of stronger storms could move through around sunrise Sunday, bringing a very small risk of quick-forming tornadoes.
- Rain should gradually taper off after the storms move through.
- Charlotte could see 1 to 2 inches of rain, with higher totals possible in the mountains and foothills. Wind gusts could reach 30 mph in the Charlotte area, with stronger winds possible farther west.
- The tornado risk remains low, but forecasters will continue monitoring conditions through the weekend.
