Charlotte Checkers are in the playoffs, here’s what you need to know

CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte Checkers are in hot pursuit of a championship, and hockey fans in the Queen City can get in on the action.

The team has advanced to Round 3 in the Calder Cup Playoffs after earning a first-round bye and defeating Bridgeport Islanders 3-1 in Round 2.

The Checkers will hit the road for Games 1-2 (on May 22 and May 25) in the best-of-five, Atlantic Division Finals series against the Springfield Thunderbirds.

Game 3 will be played at Bojangles Coliseum at 6 p.m. on May 28.

If necessary, Game 4 will be played at the coliseum at 6 p.m. on May 29 and Game 5 will be played at home at 7 p.m. on May 31.
