Charlotte is celebrating its 250th anniversary and provides an opportunity for Charlotte to recognize its past, understand its present and imagine its future.
SHARE Charlotte chose 40 local nonprofit organizations that play a significant role in strengthening the city, and how the community, local businesses, corporations, foundations, groups and individuals can support their vision for CLT250.
The CLT250 legacy projects have been designed to leave a legacy on Charlotte.
One legacy project is KIPP Charlotte, which seeks to provide books for elementary and middle school students.
KIPP Charlotte hopes to collect 250 new and gently used books for elementary and middle school students as a part of its book drive.
KIPP Charlotte is a free, open-enrollment, college-preparatory public charter school serving nearly 800 students from kindergarten through eighth grade and 600 high school and college alumni. It serves communities that are traditionally underserved and marginalized in education.
KIPP Charlotte provides an education to enable its students to lead full lives and empowers graduates to be the future leaders of Charlotte and agents of change in the world beyond.
This project will provide books that can be used year over year to continually ignite student curiosity, spark imagination and open young minds to limitless possibilities.
